Why vehicle specific towbar wiring kits?
- Rapidly and simply to connect on the socket in the vehicle.
- Reliable connections which continue to function faultlessly for many years.
- Completely with all required components and electronic modules.
- No conflicts with the other electronics of the vehicle.
- Perfectly appropriate and functioning components for electronics, socket, corrigated tubes, cable length, etc.
- No risk on damage of vehicle wiring.
- Detailed assembly manual according to the `step by step methode`.
- Original ECS quality.
When to choose for a 7- or 13-pole set?
For 7-pole one chooses if no constant tension is necessary (e.g. for cyclecarrier or small trailer). For 13-pole one chooses if constant tension is necessary (e.g. for a caravan).

How to check if a car has check control?
Detach one of the rear lights from the socket, start the engine, serve the lightening functions, kick in the brake pedal and look if an error message appears on the dashboard and if a warning sound will ring.
up
Battery power for caravan?
Only possible at 13-pole wiringkits.

What do I do when a kit is not appropriate?
By means of our catalogue on the Internet site check if the ECS reference (articlenumber) of the kit to install is the correct article number you need. You can find the ECS article number on the frontpage of the manual. Check if the contents of the kit correspond to what has been indicated in the manual (modules, small bags, wiring harness, ..).

Connecting diagram socket?
See the instruction manual provided with the wiring kit.

Can I eliminate my PDC-sensors?
At some ECS kits this can be realised by ordering an extension kit, other sets have supplies so that PDC-sensors can be interrupted when connecting a trailer or caravan (see operation of the wiring kit). There are also possibilities for assembly of a socket with two microswitches. This socket can be found in the Spare Part programme of ECS. At some vehicles it is possible to eliminate the PDC-sensors by means of a switch in the vehicle.

What is C2 (control)?
In Germany, Austria and United Kingdom it is obligatory that the driver can check visually or auditively the functioning of the indicators on the trailer. By the sophisticated electronics in certain vehicles this C2 control at certain kits is standard present.

My flashing light continues to blink rapidly after assembly; what can I do?
If the wiringkit is being equipped with a C2 module, one must check the following points:
- Does the module have feeding voltage? This is not necessary at all modules. Check if connection + 30 occurs on the module and if there is 12 Volts on it.
- Does the module have a good working mass connection (31)?
- Does the trailer, caravan and/or tester have lamps of 21 Watt ?(The module checks if there is a real charge of 21 Watt present).
- Has an adapter socket/cable without the trailer been left in the socket? If so, remove it.
If everything has been well checked it may be necessary to reset the electronics by the following actions:
- Seperate the socket from the module for some minutes.
- Connect the module again.
- Switch on the contact and make sure to leave on the flashing light 6 times to the left and a minimum of 6 times to the right without connecting the trailer.
Why is an extension kit for 13-pole wiringkit being offered?
Because not everyone needs feeding voltage on its 13-pole socket. Therefore there is an extenxions kits available in the Spare Parts programme for people who do need that.

Difference between Multicon and WeSt?
The Multicon system was a system where the 7-pole sockets had 6 extra flat contact lips to the outside. The manufacturer has replaced this technique by the WeSt system. The large European caravan manufacturers only provide caravans with 13-pole sockets which live up to DIN1446 the standard.
up
When does one need an adapter?
An adapter is necessary if the vehicle is being equipped with a 13-pole socket and one wants to use a trailer or old caravan with a 7-pole socket.
up
Why fog lamp disconnection?
The fog lamp(s) of the vehicle are being eliminated during towing a trailer or caravan to prevent the bright red light (of the fog lamps of the vehicle) reflecting on the front of the caravan. The reflected light can dazzle the driver slightly. Almost all wiring kits are equipped with fog lamp switch-off. In some countries of Europe this switch-off is obligatory.
up
Is it possible that after connecting the wiringkit my battery becomes empty?
Not if one has connected everything correctly according to the manual. However, it can occur that during a half hour of ca.160 mA one measures a raised collection of current. After this half hour the module goes into sleep mode.
